How can I tell if a laptop has a premium sound card?

• I need to record meetings onto my laptop. I use an external mic or sometimes I use the built-in mic on my laptop. I'm in the market to buy a new laptop and I was told to get a premium sound card. Is there a laptop brand that is known for premium sound cards? Does the sound card make the internal mic work better? Should I be more concerned with the quality of the mic or the sound card?

  Sound card has nothing to do with it. You do not need a premium sound card. All built-in sound cards can record professional quality sound. Built-in microphones are usually poorer quality.
