What is the difference between a WIFI tablet and WIFI+3G tablet?

I understand that buying a WIFI tablet would enable me to surf the web by just picking up local (like... 30 meters) wifi internet that I already have in my apartment. So what exactly do I benefit by adding the extra $$$ and buying a Galaxy or an Ipad equipped with 3G? Does it mean that I will be able to surf the web wherever I go; in my car, at the beach (like... 300 kilometers) ? Or rather that I will have the technical ability to do so, but first I will have to BUY the internet service and pay for it monthly?

What 3G does is enable you to access mobile internet anywhere much like you would with a smart phone. However, if you buy a 3G tablet you have to connect it to a plan such as an AT&T or Verizon data plan which will cost you extra and cost monthlyjust like a phone plan.
