Why won't my laptop shutdown?

When I initiate a regular shutdown on my HP laptop it reboots instead. In order to turn it off, I have to hold the power button down for 3-4 seconds.

Sometimes the keyboard doubles as a ouiji board. It allows in spirits and now you have a ghost in the machine. JUST WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T PISS HIM OFF!!!!!
