How do you delete files off of a dvd-rw disc?

Can your laptop delete your windows profile or account because of full disc space?

  • I have been having difficulties logging into my computer I recently added some upgrades and my disc space on my laptop has become full. It told me a few times that the disc space is full and to delete files I tried to delete as much as I could but it seems the problem still persist. Recently I tried to log on to my account when I turn the computer on and it told me window is sending me to the default account that I created. I don't remember creating a default at all, there are so many files that are within my account and I cannot access them because every time I log on with my information, it sends me to the default. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Has windows deleted my information and files? If it did I don't understand how the disc space is still full. I am so no tech savvy I need some help from someone who knows a bit about this subject. Thanks

Ok Im only going to charge you 10pts for this answer. 1. Right click on your recycle bin icon, select properties and then look a tab called global you'll see a sliding slide thing, by default the operating system will probably have reserved 10% of your disk for the recycling bin ... reduced that to like 2%. You just freed up 8% of your disk. This applies whether you have vista or XP, plenty of other windows crap software too. 2. Next read and play with these. XP. http://www.windowsreference.com/windows-xp/turn-off-or-reduce-system-restore-to-save-hard-drive-space-in-xp/ Though again, sure its pretty similar in vista. But the OS usually reserves 10% for system restore too, which you dont need. I always just turn my system restore off. 3. Go to my computer in start menu and click it. * Find the icon for the full harddisk ... rightclick on it and select properties. * You'll see a little check box, saying check this to compress files and save disk space ... do so. And twittle your thumbs while it compresses the files on the disk. ADDED BONUS !!!! WHOOOO !!!! 4. Google for the word snapfiles ..... go to their freeware section ( which means totally free software ) Search for a program called CCleaner download and install. It has both a file cleaner on it, also has a registry tool ... that can find and delete errors in your windows registry and make ya comp run better. Though if you have Vista I wouldnt use the CC registry tool. In XP, it works like a charm. Oh yeah, to answer your question ... no your comp should not delete files you wanted, on its own. Just wouldnt be able to save new files, if the disks were all full. But then micro$oft is garbage, so theres no telling really. Wouldnt surprise me if windows collects all your credit card info and forwards it to bill gates automatically, lol.

It is possible that what happened was you deleted a file that you may have needed in your settings without knowing the file was a necessary one. I am assuming that you have no backups. When you go into the default user, does it save your info? Like if you make a word document and save it, then restart your computer, is that word document there? If you have corrupted the user, you will have to make a new user and try to access the files that way. If not, there are ways to save the data, but it is very technical...If you see that the word file is not there, then you have corrupted user files and may need to reformat the computer. It may be possible to save your data, but you will want a specialist to do this for you...
