Laptop Recommendations? Mechanical Engineering student?

Hi all, I am currently looking at purchasing a new laptop this summer before I enter my second year of Mechanical engineering studies. My new device will mostly be used for programming, engineering software, graphic design, and movie watching. I currently have a 2008 macbook pro with a 2.5ghz intel core II duo, 2 Gb ram, and a 300gb hard drive. I plan on moving towards a pc, and right now I really like the look of Thinkpads over the new macbook pros. Does anybody have a recommendation for a laptop? My criteria are(in order of importance) -powerful enough to run engineering software -high resolution screen (15", comparable to or better than mbp) -light weight (no more than 5.5lbs/2.4kgs) -dimensions similar to 14.1"(36cm)x9.6"(24cm)x1.0"(2.5cm) (no thicker than 1.5") Price is not an issue. If you have any suggestions or would like to share your setup, please let me know! Thank you very much

If price is not an issue I would seriously go with a lenovo, Toshiba is very very famous for motherboard problems I have run a computer shop for the past two years and the laptop I have seen in the most for dead motherboards have been Toshiba. Dell is not bad but are more expensive, they usually make laptops that don't completely shatter if it drops 4 inches. Lenovo are better designed though and I have seriously not seen one in for more then just a virus clean or to clean some junk files causing conflicts.
