Why is my laptop not turning on?

  • ok it was on and i was playing on it and i went to plug in in to my cd player (witch i have done heaps of times) and the cd player went bang on my laptop turned off and now its not turning on and even when the power is plugged in the light is not lighting up plz help its a ACER ASPIRE 5315

  • Answer:

Did your CD player make the noise "bang" becuase you were playing a 'bang' mp3 or did you drop it on the computer. If you dropped it on the computer then there is no mystery as to why it won't turn... BECAUSE YOU FRICKIN DROPPED SOMETHING ON IT AND BROKE IT. Telling us the brand of computer will not help. I suggest taking the battery out and plugging the power cord in and starting it without the battery in it. Is it trying to load up, if so how far does it get in the startup process?

you've probably done something to the motherboard

Sounds like your power supply blew out... or something more expensive. Given the prices of laptops today, probably not worth getting it fixed unless you can get a good deal.

sounds like you broke it when you dropped your cd player on it, maybe you can get it fixed for less than the price of an entire new computer

first is their signs that the laptop is on, if so then the monitor i gone, if not then it has short circuited if this is true then remove the battery w8 about 1/2 an hour and make sure the power cable is removed should be good, if not then you might have either short circuited the hardware to a point where it is fryed or buy a new comp and get a desktop unless you need it to be portable when i mean short circuited i mean that when your cd player dropped on the computer the wire attached to the laptop had been pulled and caused the problem if youre looking at getting new laptop go to ebay bought a few of there hope that helps!

This sometimes happens when you connect two electrical devices with their own power supplies. It may have blown a fuse in your laptop PSU (have you tried running on battery power only?). You may be lucky and find that removing the battery and leaving the laptop off with the PSU disconnected for some time (maybe minutes, hours or even days) allowing all the capacitors to discharge fully, that things revert to normal. I had a similar experience with a laptop, USB TV tuner box connected to my TV. I left it for a few days and the problem diappeared. However, I haven't tried the TV tuner again! If not, then it's a visit to the laptop repair shop which may be costly.
