Why is there no sound coming from my laptop?

  • I just installed Windows 7 last night. Then, I downloaded a song and when I opened it, there is no sound. Before this, I was using Windows Vista and the sounds are okay. Can somebody help? This is the first time it happened to my laptop. I never had a problem with sounds before. My laptop is Dell Inspiron 1420 and I've been using it for nearly 4 years.

    Make sure you have revised the sound settings...my last pc was having the same problems...if in windows vista u have no problems with ur sound maybe the sound drivers for windows 7 are not installed....

it's because of the new os you're, during the installation it reformats your harddrive, so not only your sound driver but also the vga and usb drivers .. you may download the driver in your manufacturers official site, or you may use driver magic (it will automatically scan your laptop then download the needed drivers for it)

As far as I know, Windows 7 will automatically install all tue required drivers for your laptop including the sound driver. Go to Device Manager in Control Panel and check the Sound driver. Update it in properties

have you updated the drivers. Do you know if windows 7 supports your drivers. What codec is the music your playing. What media play or you using. try and see if you down load another media player like vlc and see if that fixes the problem. UPDATE! your drivers .
