How to allocate vector greater than 2Gb?

Can only use 2GB RAM Windows 7?

  • I have 3GB of RAM installed but Windows says only 2 is usable. I have a 32 bit OS and an Intel Integrated graphics card. I know it is probably reserving it for the graphics card but I was wondering is there anyway to un-allocate the memory so that I can use it all. The laptop is the HP Compaq 9610p. The RAM is DDR2 SODIMM.

  • Answer:

taking your shared ram from the on board graphics will destroy your system performance. you should look into getting 2 2gb sticks of ram to replace your current. 32bit operating systems can only use 4gb of ram. some is shared with graphics and some is reserved for the operating system kernel. thats why you only see 2gb.
