What kind of laptop should I get?

What kind of laptop should I get?

  • I am a student and I am needing a laptop with plenty of space on the hard drive as well as great graphics. I am not exactly sure what the specs should be, but l am wanting to pay between $300-$700. I do know that I want it to be atleast a 4G laptop, but looking at Best Buy it says that there are "so many" GB hard drive and different processors. Basically what I need to know is what should I look for as far as lots of memory space, good graphics, what processor is the best, and what should I look at as far as the speed of it? I'm sorry if this question is kind of complicated. I just don't want a laptop that will crash after only two years and I want one that will do what I need it to do.

  • Answer:

As a student you would need a large Hard Drive (HDD) Processors, look for stuff like Pentium Dual Core/ Core Duo about 2.1GHz or more Dont get a celeron or an atom, they are slow 4GB RAM is normal for laptops and is good Dell laptops do not last long, i know, im tying from one :P Graphics are not key for a student laptop as basic stuff will still run videos and stuff fine, graphics only need to be good when playing games Look up brands like Acer/Toshiba/Sony/Dell(if you wish)

This is the sort of laptop I got for my girlfriend, she wanted to be able to play games, but also wanted a decent amount of portability. We managed to get a really good deal from Dell at the time, ended up paying £470 ($767 dollars or so according to Google right now), and got 4GB ram, 512MB graphics card, 320GB HDD, decent processor (can't remember the model - T4300 or something) and a 15" screen. It runs like a dream. The closest I can get to this model on the american website is this: http://www.dell.com/us/en/home/notebooks/laptop-studio-1555/pd.aspx?refid=laptop-studio-1555&s=dhs&cs=19&~oid=us~en~29~laptop-studio-new-15_anav1~~ but it doesn't have the graphics card. The UK one is here: http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/laptop-studio-1555?c=uk&l=en&s=dhs&cs=ukdhs1&ref=lthp

i have a toshiba and highly reccomend.. they fixed a problem i had even after the warranty expired.. as far as what to look for.. minimum of 80 to 100gb harddrive i would suggest a dual core processor.. but really any new laptop will have a sufficient processor.. i would say to visit the best buy website, and then when u find a model within your cost range, look on yahoo for user reviews i would stay away from sony and hp,, terrible reviews on these i have a toshiba satellite A135 or something like that.. has a dual core processor and 15.4" screen.. had it for about 3 years now.. good luck

You need a dual core processor, a dedicated video card, 250 HD is pretty standard. 700 is a stretch but check for sales. Also check HP and Dell sites they have good low starting price points and you can customize.

The best 4 brands of laptops out right now in order from best to worst (of the best): Toshiba, Apple, Sony, Gateway. Specs you should look for: Intel Dual core 2.2 (or higher(amd processors tend to kill the whole computer with heat and a short life. (which is sad because i used to be a hardcore supporter of them but i digress)), DEDICATED graphics card ( if you want a solid visual exp.), at the minimum 4 gigs of ram (good call), and Hd doesnt really matter. ( you can buy an external hd which is actually better in many cases). Now to bash some laptops: Dells are built to last about 2.5 years. They have had countless silent recalls ( they know there is a porblem with the laptop but will only fix it if you call them out on knowing there was an issue.) They have the shortest life of any laptop maker and are made from cheap parts. (cheap parts = cheap laptop). Acer does the same as Dell but somehow last about 4 years. (acer owns gateway but thankfully has not changed how they are made) Hp worries about making quantity of products over quality. ( They can be the best computers or the worst.) That being said: Every computer company has its share of lemons. However if you stick with the specs and brands listed above, you should have a great exp, with a long living laptop. Good luck!

Well as per your requirement I will suggest that you should go for a Refurbished laptops These refurbished laptops comes with good specifications as well as good technology which can be easily upgraded too Check out the website link mentioned below
