A mixture of CPU, RAM, and your motherboard determines the speed of your laptop. If you're mutlitasking on it, like running many programs at the same time, go with a dual core processor and like 3-4Gigs of ram... It all really depends on what you are going to use it for. Movies, games..facebook.

of all those, the HP Pavilion dv4-1124nr 14.1 which I believe was the 3rd one is the best. It has a dual processor, like all the rest which is good for multitasking, because it is like having 2 processors. but it also has 800mhz bus speed, which is the highest of all the rest and 2 mb of cache. 4 gigs of memory is alot, and also means that pc is running the 64 bit version of vista (32 bit won't recognize more than 3 gigs). and 6 bit systems will eventually replace 32 bit systems, because they can do more and supposedly are safer. add the 250 gis of storage you want and there you go.

Sony has always been on the upper end of laptops. I would recommend you get: http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Sony-VAIO-VGN-NS130E-S-15-4-Laptop-Silver-VGN-NS130E-S/sem/rpsm/oid/227479/catOid/-18746/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do 1. The more RAM is what makes a computer fast. 2. I prefer a Intel Pentium Dual-Core, they are reliable. 3. No, 4GB of RAM is ALOT, my computer has 1/10 of that and it is very fast. Good luck ! :]
