Can a nationwide smart card be used on the internet?

Can an internet air card be used on a laptop -- to a wireless router -- to an Xbox 360 with a game adapter?

  • I ordered Verizon DSL a month ago and I still don't have it. Now they are saying two more weeks. As I'm impatiently waiting I wonder if the laptop/air card/wireless router/xbox 360 connection is possible? Obviously this would give me the freedom to take the internet on the go as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated and more than Verizon has done for me...

  • Answer:

Can an internet air card be used on a laptop, yes. To a wireless router, no, with a aircard you connect by cell towers like with a cell phone and have to pay for the service in addition to DSL. With DSL you will need the DSL modem connected to a router to use the wireless network WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n feature on the lap top. Go to this site http://www.microsoft.com/athome/moredone/wirelesssetup.mspx for full details and how to set up the wireless WiFi connection. When I set up DSL Internet Service with AT&T they shiped the installation kit with every thing needed in two days and it works great. With the DSL you have a choice of using a DSL modem with a router or a gateway (a gateway is a combination modem and router built into one unit). Hope this helps
