How can I setup Canon MF5550 on Linux box?

How well does the Asus Eee PC 900 with Linux behave out of box? First time Linux user friendly?

  • I'm thinking of getting an EeePC 900 on ebay, and since I will only be using the netbook for pretty basic tasks (word processing, web browsing, etc) I thought it would be a good opportunity to test out Linux. So my question is, do all of the bells and whistles, particularly sound and wifi, work on the Linux version fresh out of the box? I have browsed through some message boards and seen a few issues with wireless connectivity, but I'm not sure if that comes with the installed distro or from switching to a different one. While I'm not afraid of the learning curve, will I be thrown into the deep end as far as drivers and tweaks right from the beginning?

  • Answer:

Linux is pretty simple to use for basic tasks. I would recommend going to your local computer store (best buy) and playing around with a Linux Eee PC so your confident you can figure it out. However, there is always Google and Yahoo Answers for your questions.
