Is 20,000 1 a high contrast ratio?

Help! What notebook computer has the highest contrast ratio?

• This info seems to be very hard to find.. I contacted so many sources; HP, Dell, Toshiba, sony, Tigerdirect, CDW, etc. none was able to give me an answer. HP said that their highest end laoptop has only 300:1 contrast ratio! Others don't even know! I know LG makes seperate monitors with 8000:1 contrast ratio (I have them) but I need help in finding a good laptop with at least 500:1 contrast ratio or more. This is NOT resolution of course. Contrast ratio is critical for me because I need those laptops to view X-rays. Thank you!

  Most if not all laptop displays are very poor in terms of contrast ratio, resolution and brightness. Higher contrast LCD panels block more light and are thus require a brighter back light, this is devastation to battery life. I have a T61. IBM clams 1:600. The screen is dim and suffers from bad light leakage. I don't know what to say. You might be able to convert the X-rays to green scale or something other then grayscale?
