Which Linux distribution that is more suitable for intel and why?

Looking to switch from Windows to Linux on an intel celeron laptop. New to linux, what's the best Linux OS?

if your are new to it, I would recommend fedora core 9. It is easy to install, and more stable on a broad range of platforms than ubutu. The cube that was mentioned, is a nice play pretty, but not real useful, and your graphics card may not support it.

There are so many variants of Linux these days that asking which is best is like asking which rain drop is the wettest. Ubuntu is perhaps the "friendliest" available (I run it on three computers), and it has its own variations: Ubuntu, Kubuntu and Xubuntu. The differences are mostly in the graphical user interface; Linux is the operating system -- the UI sits on top of the OS (unlike Windows, which has no such separation). There are some very attractive, and very user-friendly Linux distributions. gOS, is an attractive, innovative Linux that made its debut on Wal-mart Everex $199 computers in 2007. Get Ubuntu http://www.ubuntu.com/ it has the largest support network and they will resolve most of your problems on their forums pretty quickly. Make sure to install compiz to get that nice 3d cube and eye candy action.
