Why does my toshiba laptop randomly turn on by itself?

ill be sitting somewhere in my room and all of a sudden my laptop will turn on. it's happened three times, the first time it turned on, i got up and turned it off then it came on again,the second time i just shut the screen . . . any explanation?

Are you logging off and then shutting it down using turn off ? Are you just letting it go into sleep/hibernate mode with cover open ? Are you forcing it to shut down by holding down power on button ? Add these answers to your question info please.

go to start>control panel>windows update if it is set to "install updates automatically" change it to "check for updates but let me choose etc" it might be worth checking in control panel>mouse or >keyboard - sometimes there is a setting that allows this device to bring the computer out of stand by. Disable it.
