Fast laptop to download games?

You need big RAM.

It would help if you specified a budget for the laptop you want. Macs are pretty amazing but are expensive, which is why I don't have one. I actually love the laptop I got right now though, it's a HP G60. It has a crap load of memory, 250 gig drive, windows 7, a keypad, and is very durable. It's majorly fast, I can run photoshop, arcGIS, a game and google chrome and it would barely slow it down. It's also an Intel, I hate AMD, I've had two other laptops with an AMD processor and they both sucked. They both burned out on me, overheated and just died on me. My workplace also had AMD laptops before and they also burned out too so I would suggest to buy a laptop with Intel rather than AMD. I didn't look too much into the graphics card but my graphics are pretty amazing. If I knew your budget, I'd be a better help with this but since I don't, I'll just have to run off of what I've experienced. I got my laptop for cheap off of eBay, New for $300 but that's because I was lucky that a rich lady was selling it and just wanted to get rid of it. Usually my laptop runs about $700. Cheaper than a Mac but if you want to wait and save up for a Mac, then go ahead and do so. Your problem with the speed of downloading multiple games is most likely your internet connection rather than your laptop. You should probably upgrade your internet speed, laptops have nothing to do with downloading speed. Playing a game and having it be slow can be a laptop speed problem but not downloading content from the internet.

A better laptop will not make it that much faster (if any faster) to download games. Any laptop nowadays have webcam and DVD drive. Playing games, you should look for dedicated graphics. Look for a store, set a budget, and there you go =]

The fastest laptops per category are going to be any laptop not running MS Windows. If you want a quality product with a warranty too, then get a MacBook / MacBook Pro / MacBook Air. Keep all them files off of the computer and leave it for processing and the ext HDD as your filing cabinet. For fast downloads, it does not have much to do with the computer at all. The speed for downloading comes from ISP speeds offered, available speed actually available, the speed at which your computer and the remote computer can agree to connect at (this session, at 'this time'), the route at which your packets take across the web, the software installed on your computer, how the software on your computer is configured and other relating factors. This is nothing related to laptop hardware, brand, etc. However, if you use MS Windows, keep in mind IE is the worst browser, Windows is the slowest OS on the planet, Windows wastes up to 85%+ network bandwidth on unnecessary chatter, everything launches at once and with an auto update feature installed, and a bazillion other things happening that slows your network speed. If you are using Wireless and it is shared or not secured, you just cut your speed a bit more. I know I did not provide a specific laptop but that is because of the huge number that do all meet your criteria for webcam, drive space, cd / dvd bruning and the only option not listed in this sentence was download speed but that is the same technical requirements no matter what laptop you get (mostly) and that is the real reason for my having answered in this format.
