Buy a copy of Windows XP. Install. You will lose absolutely everything.

Indeed its true , you will loose almost everything , if your laptop is powerful enough then consider running 7. Its really great and beats xp.

yes, you can downgrade n it will WORK. BUT, before downgrading look that you hav all the drivers.

yeah sure why not window xp is the most successful version of windows.........go for it......

if your windows is genuine then dont go for windows xp. if you still want to go for xp then make sure you hav all the drivers of windows xp or the drivers are available on website. but i feel that windows 7 is much better than windows xp in graphics, apps, media.

I do these conversions quite a few times with different computers. Preparation is your key object with this. 1. Open menus, accessories, system and find the one that will list all the system hardware and software and print this out. 2. Highlite the information for motherboard, the video card, the sound card, the modem and, the network card. (the driver for the motherboard will normally have the other drivers) The name and type they are. 3. Go to the manufacturer web site and see if XP drivers are available. Probably not likely for a newer computer, they may not even have Vista drivers. 4. This is where your list you printed comes into use. 5. Visit the hardware manufacture web site and see if they have the XP drivers for your hardware. If they do download this to a directory you create. They will need to be put on a CD when you are ready to move on. 6. Once you have what you need, boot the Windows XP CD and have it delete the current partition, then format NTSF, when it finishes it will install Windows. Understand that this conversion can be about 80% successful, 5% you can find a generic drive that will work, but some of the functions will not be available and 5% of the time you won't find anything that will work. There is no 100% guarantee.

In most cases, it's not recommended if your computer is preloaded with Windows 7 already. If your laptop manufacturer's site does not offer XP drivers for your model, you may not get a fully functional laptop after downgrading. Windows may be able to find some generic drivers, but it doesn't always find everything. You may be missing a few things like audio or perhaps you may not be able to use your card readers. If you want to risk it, make sure you can recover your system back to Windows 7 in case anything goes wrong. Personal opinion: I love Windows 7. So far I have no compatibility issues at all. You may be able to run older programs by right-clicking their icons, clicking properties, looking under the compatibility tab and choosing to run in compatibility mode.
