Is it possible a cmos battery will stop a laptop from powering up?
-
laptop stopped working out of the blue, i clicked restart, it didnt. its probably the board itself, ive checked power cord, ram, hard drive, etc etc. it will charge the battery but wont start or turn on at all, it takes a maxell ml1220 battery, is it possible that this would stop it from working? im thinking its more the motherboard, but before it gets stripped and scrapped i wanted to make sure,

Answer:
The CMOS battery just holds your settings and time so that wont cause boot problems. The hard drive could have died.
