What can I do about the white lines and messed up display on my Sony Vaio laptop?
-
About a month or so ago, white horizontal lines started appearing across my laptop LCD screen and I would have to move the screen or shake it for them to go away. Recently, its been worse and the display either just freezes completely and distorts. I have resorted to "squeezing" my laptop screen so the picture goes back but sometimes it just stays like that and I have to shut off my computer. What is going on? I have had this laptop since October so it is fairly new.

Answer:
Sounds like your screen is failing. take it back and get it fixed under warranty.

Change it, you should be able to get a new screen at a reasonable price, maybe even on ebay and they are very straight forward to change
I would probably call Sony and tell them the situation, and make sure to tell them how new the laptop is... It looks as if your display is just going out, which probably resulted from some kind of a defect when it was made, unfortunately... temporarily you could hook it up to an external monitor from the VGA port if your display stops working, but calling the company is the best you can do.
It sounds like the wiring is damaged for the display. The only fix is to get a new one. If you're under warranty, it's definitely worth it, otherwise you're probably looking to spend $200 or $300 for a new screen.
You could buy a new screen. It would save you buying a new computer.
It sounds like your laptop may have gotten a good drop at one point. The LCD screen is on its way out. Eventually squeezing it is not going to work. If you purchased any type of extra warranty with it, I would see if it is covered. Otherwise, if you do not want to purchase a whole new laptop you can always buy just a regular computer monitor and hook that up until the finances are right for a new one. The cost of the screen to fix it would not be worth it, it would be close to the price of a new laptop.
My friend had the same problem, but she stepped on it... did you step on it? Or just drop it or whack it or something. That is most likely cause. Or just old age. You know... laptops are just like people...
Mine did that to
turn it back to the store that you bought it from or just sell pieces out of it and make money of that to buy a new lap top
