What Kind Of Laptop Should I Get..?

  • What Kind Of Laptop Should I Get, I Want One That Can Be Ordered By Staples (Canada) but when i look at the site i get confused between all the info. i need something that can -burn movies -download movies, music..ext without freazing -play games (like now WoW games, like browser games) -facebook -at the least a 15 in screen -and be fairly fast what can i get closest to that with a price range of 400-800$

For the price range, Apple is totally out. You'll be able to find many Sony, Dell, HP, Toshiba, Acer, and Gateway laptops for that price. I've had Sony and HP laptops and my HP died after a year. Otherwise, it was a great computer. I now have a Sony and it's the best. But it's a top of the line Sony. I'd probably recommend Acer, Toshiba, or Sony is I had to go mainstream. You need at least 3GB RAM for memory and a Core II Duo. Pentium now has new processors (i.e. i-3, i-7, etc.) so companies are fading out Core 2 and Quad Core processors. You might be able to find a computer running on those processors for cheaper. Also, Staples doesn't have that great of a choice of laptops. I'd go with Best Buy.

For playing games, $400 will never get you something that works well enough. $800 may get "close", but even then, it will be weak for gaming. There are other Canadian online stores that sell reasonable laptops, some of which can be used for gaming. Always check the video card ratings, that is the biggest factor.

Dell Inspiron 15 I just got it, its more than i expected. $699

well any computer these days can do those things. the only thing you need to be carful about is the hardware. it will most likley have windows 7 on it. so you will want a minimum of 3 gigs of system ram. and a dual core cpu. like a intel core2duo sumthing equal too or better. and hard drive spae i think 250 gigs in standard these days. but dont cheap out either. a cheap laptop wont last. it will fall apart in 2 years time. i live around computers. i woul recomend a macbook pro but thats well out of your price range. i cant tell you whats best. but i can tell you what i would not buy. i would not buy a dell if i wanted it to last. dells are cheap yes. they have great software compatability and all that but the build quality is poor with dell. i like dell software. i think they do a relly good job inplamenting their oem software into windows. very little compatability issues with a dell. but they just dont last. hp is a good brand. however teh last ho i bough had all kinds of problems and it was a 1300 dollar hp. i would use to say go for an hp but i havent had very good experinsces with their laptops. right now the best laptops by reputation. are lenovo laptops, sony laptops, and toshiba. personally i dont think toshiba is as good as it used to be. lenovo makes some very good stuff however they are still using old designs. nuthing wrong with that but unno you want sumthing new right? altho it is new it still looks like the same stuff they were making when they were under ibm. so they dont relly look like new machines. apple is rated #1 in notbooks and they have been taking more ideas from sony than the athers. and sony has a very good rep for laptops. so i would say get a sony. i have no idea what they cost. i would defanatly stay away from cheap dells. the upper end dells are fine but the 300 dollar dell will fall apart on you in just a few years. i know i have one. :-) hp i like however my last hp has given my problems. it relly honestly dosent matter. the internal workings are pretty much the same. quality for price i qould say hp has the best quality vs. cost. but sony lenovo toshiba. they cost more but they have a much better rep. but remember. windows 7 you will want 3 gigs system ram. a core 2 duo proscessor or equal or better of course. and a dvd/cd writable drive. any computer you gets with those few things will do exaclty what you want. cost is just a matter of quality. i would go to best buy or som place like that ware they have them on display ware you can pay with em. you can pretty much tell by handling them wich ones feel cheap and wich ones feel solidly built. that what i would do. id g play with a few of em find the one that feels like its well made not all flemsy and stuff. make sure it has the ram proscessor and dvd/cd writable drive and you should be fine. just remember you get what you pay for.
