Problem Re-Installing Windows?

Problem after reinstalling windows.?

  • I recently reinstalled windows xp sp 2 on my desktop.however due to a persistent boot error i had to remove the hard drive and do the installation on another computer. after i finished i rebooted the pc and windows worked fine. but when i put the hard drive back in the original computer it won't boot all the way up. first the windows xp loading screen appears then i goes to a black screen that says there's been an error that might be related to recent hardware changes and i can run in safe mode, run last known good configuration, or start windows normally. whichever one i pick the screen goes black for a few seconds, the loading screen appears and then it takes me right back to the error screen. what can i do to fix this?

  • Answer:

it will only read it on the origanal motherboard it was in. meaning if you have a hard drive you take it out of pc1 put it in pc2 , pc2 will not read windows it will have to be reformated. so what you have to do is put it back in the pc it belongs in and upon powering up hit F1 then reformat your p.c

this could be because there is some faulty device on this computer. try the follwong. remove any cards you might have such as sound, modem, etc. now boot and see if you still have the problem. if not you know one of those card is faulty. if you get a blue screen than it is the memory that is faulty. disconnect even the DVD/CD rom drive and try. you will be able to figure out what is wrong. make sure you know what your doing otherwise you could get a major electrical shock. if you dont know what to do get someone experience to do it.

the "recent hardware changes" error is probably cause you setup the hard-drive in a different computer, with different hardware, so plugging it back into the original PC caused a error. you might have to whip that drive clean and reinstall windows again. Throw in your recovery/OS disk, format, and reinstall.
