How do I transfer music from my pc to my mac?

  • I have a PC with all of my music on it. That is where I sync my iphone. Most of the music was not paid for. I bought a macbook and want to put all of my music from my pc to the mac. I bought a double ended usb cord hoping I could transfer the music between computers, but neither computers recognizes that the computers are being connected. I need to get my music on to the mac and on my iphone. Can someone please help me. The music is no longer on my iphone because i had to sync it when i put iOS 5 on it on my mac. The external hard drive i have works, but the music does not work...I am guessing because the files are written different on a pc than a mac. On the Pc all the files play music, but when I use the hard drive to transfer it they all become read me's and are scattered all over the place.

    Ohh that's easy. Just network the pc and mac together and share the pc folder with the mac. LOL EASY

USB is not a networking protocol. You need ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Firewire. Most PCs are cheap, so they rarely have Firewire. No difference in Windows music and OS X music. Millions of people use music files back and forth with no trouble. Maybe you have some DRM protected files. We can't tell you how to un-DRM them. That would be a violation of Yahoo Answers guidelines. You have a unique issue: "they all become read me's and are scattered all over the place" Maybe you should try again. Also, repair the HDD in Disk Utility or using the "Properties > Tools" feature of Windows.
