What Gaming PC should I get?

What should i get to build a $500 gaming pc?

  • Im looking to build a decent gaming pc for arond $500. I was on newegg.com and there was something called "barebone systems." Do they came with everything you need or is it just like a mobo and processor and u put the rest in? please explain what a barebone system is. I have some more questions also. If i dont get a barebone system, what would u guys recommend i get to build a new pc. i want PCI express technology, but idk what the best stuff is to get for my budget. this is what im thinking of getting: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103773 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103272 for a processor. which one is better? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131324 for a motherboard, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814162020 for a video card, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227289 for memory. Would u guys recommend anything better for any of those things for a $500 budget. or is that the best i can get? is it all compatible? it comes out to be around $480 what other sites should i check out for pc hardware? also, can i use my existing sound card from a dell dimension 8300?

  • Answer:

Looks good, though you also need to add case, power supply, CD drive, operating system, and a hard drive. Also you don't need to pay for DDR2 1066 when DDR2 800 is 1/2 the price. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208353 Then using the money saved upgrade the processor to a quad core Phenom. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103244 Or you can go Intel. Motherboard: Asus P43 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131329 Processor: Pentium dual core E5200 2.5GHz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116072 As for the graphics card a 512MB 9800GT is better than a 1GB 9600GT for the same price. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130377 The definition of a barebone system is vague, but it usually comes with a motherboard, a PSU, and a case as part of a combo deal, and you can add the rest. Some also include processors, hard drives, RAM, etc. You should be able to reuse the sound card because it's probably PCI and motherboards always have PCI slots. http://www.microcenter.com is awesome. They offer the lowest processor pricing around, but only applies if there's a Micro Center store near you.
