How do I use the S-Video input on my TV?

How do you use the component A/V TV-input adapter on a Dell XPS One?

  • My Dell XPS One came with a component (yellow/red/white) input adapter that plugs into the S-video port on back of computer. I have searched all over the internet to learn how to use this input but no one answers anyones question correctly for any issues that appear to be the same as mine. There is no clear way to turn-on/read the TV-in signal that goes through this adapter. People have said Windows Media Center will read it but there are no settings I have found. My computer came with the optional TV tuner and has the Coaxial input that works. I saw someone supposedly hooked theirs up through windows media player on youtube but I still cant figure it out. I need clear answers so to repeat my problem in short, I want to use my Dell computer screen as the tv for A/V input signal but cant seem to get the computer to recognize the signal coming in through that adapter/port.

  • Answer:

Open the Media Center. Television will be an option. If it's not there run the setup utility for the Media Center. It will find the video signal and install the drivers. You really should head on over to the Dell forums. There will be others with the same equipment as you that you can talk to in detail.

Other answers

your tv tuner app will have a setting to select the input, either the coax input or the component input. Just like on your TV you can select cable input or video (component) inputs.
