Why can't I get tv back to normal?

I want see why my i cant get my pc to my tv ihave lg tv at first it comes up then i get only the back ground n?

dont get icons just the back ground

You are adding a display to your video card. Usually the hardware will automatically detect this and configure appropriately on its own, but it doesn't sound like that happened here . If you are using a laptop sometimes there is a function (FN) key combination that you have to hit to extend displays. If you are on windows you can right click your desktop and click "properties" or "display resolution" depending on if you are using xp or vista/7 respectively.
