What is 6MB L2 cache?

Which is better? Intel quad core 8MB L2 cache,2.40GHz,1066FSB or a Intel duo core 6MB,3.0 GHz, 1333FSB & why?

  • I'm trying to decide between two processors and it's between a Intel Core 2 Quad-Core Q6600 (8MB L2 cache,2.40GHz,1066FSB) and a Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (6MB,3.0 GHz, 1333FSB). I've heard that the quad core isn't necessary as of yet, but will it be eventually where it's a better investment now? Or is it better to go with the duo core which has a bigger cache and is a faster speed?
