How do you build your own piezoelectric disc?

How do I get this motherboard to boot from disc?

  • I'm working on a computer for a friend. I'm trying to boot from a Windows XP Home disc, but it will not recognize or boot from the disc. I'm afraid I don't have it sitting in front of me so I couldn't tell you what Motherboard it has. It's a Dell Dimension 3000 series build though. I have gone into BIOS changed the boot priority to the IDE-CD/DVD drive and disabled the boot from HDD. This did not work instead it just error and gave me the option of entering BIOS again. I then enabled OS install mode, but with no success. A different error and gave me the option of going back to BIOS. I realize I might be a bit vague on all the details I could provide but any ideas? Cheers.

With Dell you don't need to go into the BIOS, just tap F12 on startup and it goes into a boot menu. Then try to boot to the CD. What message do you get? OS not found? NTloader missing? Drive error? I think either the CD is bad or your drive is bad.
