Good Gaming Computer Setup?
-
Well I want to build a gaming PC or basically just an all around multimedia PC that I could use for just about anything but most likely for gaming. This is currently the items I have chosen so do you guys think it is suitable? Please feel free to add any suggestions or tips to make it even better. I can go up to a max of $1,500 and well I would prefer AMD but Intel could be a possibility. Like is it a large enough case for the job?) Ram - http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=GA-MA790X-UD4%20(rev.%201.0) (Will most likely have 6-8gb) So is this a good setup or could their be improvements that would make the computer better and possibly cheaper? Any suggestions are appreciated.

As much as I love the Phenom II for performance at a low cost, there's no question: Core i7 offers the best performance by far, assuming you can afford it - which you easily can with a budget of $1500! Great choice on the power supply. Corsair is an excellent brand (I believe their internals come from Seasonic?). But I think you've aimed a bit high on the wattage. You might consider dropping down to the 750TX if you want to save a little money. The case is a full tower. It should have excellent airflow/cooling and should be more than adequate to fit your CrossFire setup. The HD4850s are good cards. But with your budget, why not bump it up to dual 4870s or GTX 260s? They don't cost too much more, but their performance is quite a bit better. The RAM seems pricey at 26$ per 2GB. Why not pick that up from Newegg as well? Here's a suggestion for a possible build that meets your budget: Core i7 920 CPU EVGA 132-BL-E758-TR x58 motherboard OCZ XMP 6GB (3x2) DDR3 1600MHz RAM 2 EVGA 896-P3-1255-AR GeForce GTX 260 graphics cards in SLI Corsair 750TX 750W PSU Sony Optiarc DVDR Sony Optiarc Blu-ray BD-ROM WD 1TB hard drive Xclio A380BK full tower case $1381.12 shipped (after 80$ MIR)
Great comp. Looks good Jack
I suggest getting a different brand than gigabyte i've had many bad experiences with their products. You case should be able to hold two cards. If you like to get to watch blu-ray movies on computers you should get a blu-ray drive. Also make sure you monitor is at least 20"long and HDCP compatible.
2 things. Your video card is meh, there are much better ones if you have a 1500$ budget. GTX 285 2gb just came out, HD 4870x2, or the 4900 series. GTS 295.. all better cards. On another note, why would you not build an i7 system? I know AMD makes the best processors ever, i know. But read the reviews on the i7. It uses amd technology with its QPI interface and easily overclocks. Not to mention the triple channel ram supported x58 motherboards.. Just a thought. Other than that your rig looks compatible, but if your gonna go that far, you might as well go for the gold!
