What will happen if I reformat my hard disk?

How do i reformat my PC (windows vista) without a Disk?

  • My computer was infected with a virus and need to reformat. problem is...I don't have the disk to do so... It didn't come with a disk when I purchased it. Know anywhere I can get a disk that won't cost very much?

For starters, don't listen to these Linux losers. Linux is not for the average user and Ubuntu simply sucks. Ubuntu is NOT Windows and is NOT easy to use. Many devices simply won't work and setting up your Internet connection can be a nightmare if you don't know what you're doing. How do you know you need to format? Have you tried removing the virus and/or spyware that has infected your machine?

You likely have the option to boot up from the recovery partition. Check the screen closely on boot up and choose the recovery option. Be warned, this will put your PC back to the state that it was in the day you brought it home.

use your recovery partition what brand of computer is it ?

Get linux, I reccomend Ubuntu (the latest version) for the most user friendly experience.
