How do I restore my computer when Windows XP won't even load?

Whenever I turn on my computer, I have 2 system OS options: Windows XP or Ubuntu. If I select Windows, it will stay on the Windows XP loading screen forever and never boot up. If I select Ubuntu, the desktop will load, and that's it; everything freezes up. I want to restore my computer completely, but don't see how I can do that with these problems.

That is why I do not like the dual boot feature for Windows/Ubuntu. It takes the Grub (Ubuntu boot loader) and incorporates it with the Windows boot loader. If one of them gets corrupted, your computer is useless until you fix it. Put your Ubuntu disk in and boot the computer from the disk. Try to delete the Ubuntu partition. shut the computer down and remove the disk. Put your XP disk in and try to boot into the XP recovery Console and repair the Windows boot loader. If you repair it back it up. Then you should at least have XP back.

If you have your original Windows XP Restore Disc use it to repair your installation.

You will have to use the operating system installation disc set to do a system repair or to re install a new fresh copy of Windows. If you have not backed up any important files try pressing F8 at start up to enter start options. Windows XP does not have a built in system recovery partition so this is why you need to use the installation disc set. After e installing Windows XP you can then re install Ubuntu to its partition.
