If so is there anywhere More cheaper? I need a new PSU!! If I want one of these cards. Iv never replaced 1, I have a MSI 785GM-E51 mainboard does this board have a tolerance for PSU's? I am also hoping to get a new motherboard a MSI one again so I want the PSU to be able to power the other board and then have a crossfire/SLI with the new Board Can you Help THANKS YOU!

  • Answer:

Just only £30 more, there is a new card from ATI Radeon - HD 6870. If you want slightly cheaper than go for HD 6850. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=701&catid=56&subid=1866 I think Enermax have the best PSU you can get albiet pricey but if you want the best then go for them http://www.enermax.co.uk/?id=17 To gwb56 - unfortunately we don't have newegg here in Britain and newegg don't do international shipping. It's a bugger, because of the exchange rate, I would shop in newegg and save the pennies. Read the reviews, however, I'm deciding between GTX 460 1GB and HD 6870 for my new computer http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/graphics-cards/362155/amd-radeon-hd-6870

Hi EXTRA. The card sounds pretty good. I don't know if this site sells to UK (I think it does), but is what us yanks use due to Neweggs' low prices and warranties. http://www.newegg.com/Store/Category.aspx?Category=38&name=Video-Cards-Video-Devices Newegg has all the hardware, cases, etc. one needs. Choose a PSU from Suggested brands Corsair, Antec, SilverStone, Seasonic, and OCZ. A little more in the way of money, but with PSU's you want quality. Whatever brand you choose, select one with a single 12v rail producing 30amps (more important than the max output wattage). Too many times buyers will see multiple rails (not the % or 3v rails) and think this is better, but in actuality, it still has a single 12v rail but now split into divisions so that a single 12vrail with 30amps is split is dividing that amperage to the other rails. Don't fall for it. Reason why I'm accenting on the PSU is, it is the most important component of any system and has the capacity to, if it fails, to burn up everything else. Here is a good tool to test out how much maximum output wattage you may need... http://www.journeysystems.com/power_supply/ Lastly, choose a motherboard (2nd most important component) with a little elbow room, to which will allow you to upgrade the other hardware in the future. Called futureproofing. Best of luck. Cheers...gwb56 #EDIT: Thanks Molubech for that info on Newegg, as I wasn't aware of that. I'll not make that mistake again and give someone false hopes. Regards...gwb56

The ATi Radeon HD 5830 is crap. I don't recommend that one. It performs badly and it's not worth it (which is why the HD 5830 is so rare). Instead, you should get the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460. It's the current best budget graphics card available and the performance on this is pretty good. If you buy a second GTX 460 and use SLI, it can outperform a single GTX 480! I recommend the Gigabyte model which cost £152.99: http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Graphics+Cards/Nvidia+GTX+400+Series/GTX+460+Series/Gigabyte+GeForce+GTX+460+OC+1024MB+GDDR5+PCI-Express+Graphics+Card+(GV-N460OC-1GI)+?productId=42170 A PSU you should get is this: http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Power+Supplies/650W+or+less/Coolermaster+GX650+80Plus+Certified+?productId=41771 ----------- @Molubech + Jack Wow, surprising. Things seems to change a lot in just little time. All of a sudden, the HD 6850 became the big thing... $10 more than the GTX 460 with a faster core clock speed? Maybe I should get it. But then again... The drivers... If they fix the driver issues, I'll probably get it. ------------------ Damn... the HD 6850 cost more than a GTX 470 in Australia.... @EXTRA The GTX 460 is faster than the HD 5830. The clock speed may seem slower than the HD 5830 but in the benchmarks the GTX 460 is only slightly slower than the HD 5830 (by a few FPS), and this was only when it was at stock clock speed. But the Gigabyte model has been overclocked so it's actually faster than the HD 5830. Also, it's not always about the clock speed. Just because one has a higher clock speed it doesn't mean it's always faster. How do I know? I have a HD 5770 which has a core clock speed of 850 MHz and the HD 5830's clock speed is 800 MHz. But, the 5830 is faster than the 5770. Can you explain that? Even the GTX 460 which has a much lower clock speed is faster than the 5770. Check the benchmarks if you don't believe me. But, you should get the HD 6850 like Jack said. Just get the PSU I linked you to. It's good enough.
