My computer screen randomly goes black?

Computer screen goes black, but computer is still on and running help!?

• I have an old dell dimension e510 that despite its age has been running really nice lately. Last night I'm on the internet just browsing the web. All of a sudden internet explorer freezes and when i click the mouse my computer beeps. Then the monitor goes black, but the computer is still running with the lights on and the power button on the monitor is orange. I hold the power button on my desktop to turn it off then i restart. Everything runs fine, but after maybe twenty minutes of the internet i get the black screen. Is my computer finally dying of old age or do i have a virus or something?

  hi jina borwin, time to take your computer to a computer repairman for a complete computer diagnosis this is your best bet. oh i want to say in a manly type voice your video card is going out but that us just one problem i am sure that there is two or three murphies law what goes wrong will go wrong...you know. but there is more when a computer starts to go wrong now it is whether it can be fixed or not which is the answer. a friend of mine had the same type of problem he said after it was fixed how well it was working i asked him what was wrong with it? he replied the power supply,motherboard and processor, video cards and new ram, hard drives and two new cdrom drivers so i replied why didn't you tell me you upgraded your whole system what is left to replace he didn't say nothing but we laughed about that for a long time. do not fall into this trap cause if you are going upgrade a few things than it is worth it but to replace everything you can buy a new one for that. lol good luck hope i was helpful to you
