Is E-music safe for you computer?

Serious computer problems? (safe mode)?

  • Okay..my computer has been messed up for awhile now and i dont wanna wait 3 hours on the phone for a maintence person, so im going to try this first. If anyone can really help me, please it would be so wonderful. Okay, so this is basically what's going on. 1) When i start up my computer and everything is loading up on my screen, before msn starts up, there is this box that comes up that says Windows Installer, Preparing to install. and then theres a box in the corner that says cancel. Whether i press cancel or not, the box disapears after a few minutes and msn pops up and i never see the box again. 2) Whenever i try to install a program, or uninstall a program on my computer, or when i try to do updates with norton or with whatever other programs i have, it tells me that it has failed to install or update because i am running windows in safe mode. 3) So since i thought i was in safe mode, when i restarted my computer i pressed f8 and when the settings came up for me to choose to run it into safe mode or not.. it was already set on "running windows normally" So now im like wtf. 4) So now since i have all these programs on my computer that i want to uninstall, i can't and now my computer is running terribly slow. I just want to know how i can get out of "safe mode" even though my computer isn't set to it, because im sick of this crap. Also, i do have a dell computer, and it is not old at all, i just got it the christmas before last, and i have been very good to it. So please, any computer wizzes out there, help me lol

To check if your computer is booting in safe mode, go to start>run then type in "msconfig" (if you have vista, then you can just type "msconfig" in the search box") Then go to the boot tab, and on the bottom there should be a "safe boot" check box. If thats checked, then ur in safe mode. If not...then i guess you arent.

I would say you have some serious malware problems - viruses, spyware. You could spend hours trying various programs and cleaning it up. I would recommend that you totally wipe it. Of course, you would have to save any important files to your flash drive or external hard drive because the process of restoration will wipe everything off it. Restarting and pressing the ctrl and F10 key at the same time will boot you to the restore partition and put your Dell back to the day you bought it. After a successful destructive recovery, get rid of the Norton virus scan - download Avast for free. Also, two very important and free anti-spyware programs - Spyware Blaster and Spybot Search and Destroy.

you should have gotten an operating system disc when you bought the computer. put that back in. and reinstall the os.

ref; your note #3 use the arrows on your keyboard to move the hilited area. go up to "run in last good configuration" & click enter . see if that helps you before doing all the other suggestions. maybe save you some time. you can also try tools> internet options> advanced & go to reset internet explorer & click reset. good luck
