I'm guessing that you are using Windows. If you go start and click on windows update you can see which update it is trying to install. If it is a big update (service pack) then just leave it to install as it will take a long time. If you don't want to install the update you can right click on the update and click hide update. The website below explains it: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/disable-or-hide-optional-updates-on-windows-vista/ You can also shut down a PC without installing an update. See the link below (may not be relevant as I don't know if you are using XP or Windows 7): http://www.mytechguide.org/4467/how-to-shutdown-windows-7-without-installing-downloaded-updates-quick-tip/

ok if it will boot up.try to go to system restore.Open programs,Go to maintanace, click on system restore. It will walk you through the process. set it to the earliest restore point available. If it will not let you into system restore. You probably have a virus.

1) This may be a driver issue. Drivers are programs that let Windows use your hardware. Sometimes drivers have "bugs" (problems), and the company that made the hardware has to post updates online. Microsoft Update doesn't always have the correct version of the drivers. Your best bet would be to visit the Web site of each manufacturer for your hardware (motherboard, video, sound and network card - sometimes they're all built into one motherboard) and download the latest drivers. Run the .EXE file(s). 2) Windows might be corrupted. If installing new drivers doesn't fix the problem, save all of your important files to another drive or a USB flash drive. Then reinstall Windows. 3) Your computer may be overheating. If it's new and overheating, you'll need another fan inside. If it's old and overheating, there's probably lost of dust and stuff blocking the CPU heat sink and/or the fans for the CPU, power supply and perhaps case. If your computer is still under warranty, back up your data if you can and take it to the place where you got it. They should be able to fix the problem. If it's not under warranty, make sure you're grounded before opening it up. Then take a small vacuum (like a USB vacuum) and suck up all the dust wherever you can find it.
