Mac Help?

Mac is screwed up. Need help?

  • Here's the situation. My mac was running 10.4. I have installation discs for 10.5, which came in 2 CDs. So, I inserted the first installation cd into the mac and booted from the disc. But the message " Mac OSX cannot be installed on this computer " came up. Then, I tried to restore the mac to the cd, which made things worse as this wiped out OS 10.4 and installed the 10.5 installer on my mac. Everytime I booted up, even without the disc, my mac will boot into the 10.5 installer. How do I get my mac running back to 10.4? The mac hdd is almost empty now, on account I accidentally erased everything.

  • Answer:

Well, that was odd. You CAN use the Disk Utility on the install DVD to wipe the HD even if you can't install Leopard on the Mac, but... I've never heard of installing the Installer. It will do that when you need to swap DVD's though. Well, anyway. You can use Ex Post Facto to overcome the version restriction and install Leopard. Or you can get a Tiger DVD.
