I would go with the AMD 6 core BUT if you want my advice on the best $200 CPU it is the Intel Xeon X3440 Lynnfield 2.53GHz 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Server Processor BX80605X3440. Use a EVGA Mobo and you will blow the other 2 CPU's away Hope I helped Man.

These are both great processors. I have the Phenom II 1055 in a home built rig and it has done whatever I have thrown at it. It is not easy to compare the 2 processors though. If you are on a budget usually comparable AMD motherboards are cheaper than Intel motherboards. Choice of processors also depend on what you want to do, for example I wanted to run multiple virtual machines on my computer therefore I chose the 6 core AMD, having 6 cores enables me to run 3 virtual machines at the same time without impacting my main OS performance. Ultimately it is not fair to compare apples with oranges. Below I have added a link for CPU performance review. I hope this helps!
