Where do I look for Windows Firewall?

Computer freezes a bit on monitor shuts down and then reveals windows isnt genuine?

  • I got this comp from a pawn shop, its not much but i needed something cheap for now. Anyway i know for a fact the serial for the windows 7 installed on it is lost so i got the WATremover thing that removes the "windows isnt genuine" message. It works but then this started happening.. - After awhile the computers monitor would shut off - When the monitor comes back on, windows isnt genuine message is there - Few minutes later the message disappears out of nowhere I cant seem to figure out what is "updating" or "checking" the validation of the windows copy. So far i disabled updates / background transfer and basically everything windows associated like the firewall and defender. I even skipped that update from MS that checks if you have a legit copy of windows. After doing a test i noticed after i set my firewall to paranoid mode that dllhost.dll keeps accessing a folder called "windowsregistration" or something along the lines of updating my validation located in the windows / system files. From what i read i cant disable dcom which apparently uses dllhost for other important functions including windows update. So im stuck.. i can keep blocking it with my firewall but ill just keep getting alerts about it every 10 mins or so.. im not even sure if thats the reason why. Gonna look around for an updated WATremover or something. ..and no i aint gonna buy another copy of windows. last time i bought a brand new computer from best buy a week later i still got that genuine message. Thanks for the help in advance!

well if you don't need to use "Windows specific software" try Linux . this is the one I'm using right now . http://pinguy-os.sourceforge.net/ I have it installed on my pc along with windows xp (dual boot) you can download it and burn it to a disk with this free burning program http://www.imgburn.com/ boot the pc into a "live desktop" and try it out. it's all free,no hidden cost at all, no licensees. and there are many different OS's to chose from (operating systems) look on this site http://distrowatch.com/ . if you need more help ,just email me or IM.

The most common cause of computer freezes is a corrupt registry. Most likely your registry is bloated and overstuffed with an assortment of useless pieces of data. The operating system while running your computer has to pick its way through all this excess material. There will be bits of programs which were not completely uninstalled, parts of programs which were never completely installed, fragments of miscellaneous data, useless drivers, and a multitude of other bits and pieces. The answer is to clean your registry and remove all the material which is not needed. http://fix-pc-freezing.com/Clean_Up_Center.htm Get the best one, and completely clean your windows registry with a few clicks of the mouse.
