How to convert AVI to DVD on Mac?

How can I convert an AVI movie to a VOB on a MAC to be able to burn it to a DVD and play it on my DVD player?

  • I tried burning a movie onto a DVD to play it on my DVD player but it wouldn't recognize the DVD. I was then told that I needed to convert the movie on my Mac which is AVI format to a VOB format in order to then burn it on a DVD and be able to play it on my DVD player. Luckily I found a program called HandBrake which I was told would convert it to VOB, but as soon as I uploaded the AVI movie it gave no option to convert it to VOB - only MP4. Would anyone please lend me a hand as to how to go about and convert my movies to VOB so I can play them on a DVD player. Or perhaps I have it all wrong. Am I incorrect in thinking that it needs to be converted into VOB? Do I need to convert it to a different form? I'm almost certain VOB is the correct format, but if there is a different way I would greatly appreciate everyone's input. Thanks a mill.
