My computer keeps freezing/restarting?
-
my computer keeps restarting (and then gets stuck on the windows vista loading screen) or keeps freezing. i was wondering if any one can help me with some solutions. i've run my virus software and they all come back clean, i've uninstalled recent software and the comp still crashes. blue screens do appear but only for a split second and then it goes back to freeze load. i do have pics of the error messages that appear when my computer boots up normally. http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u270/lgndkllr_2007/IMG00151.jpg http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u270/lgndkllr_2007/IMG00150.jpg http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u270/lgndkllr_2007/IMG00149.jpg http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u270/lgndkllr_2007/IMG00148.jpg

Answer:
I suspect you need to clean the CPU fan or power supply out. Open up the computer after turning it off. Take a can of compressed air clean the computer out including inside the PS unit. It might also be the PS that is dying on you. As it starts to load drivers more power is required.

As said below,it could be overheating....but your computer has been running normally right? I mean if it's relatively new(seems like it's Vista+) I doubt a fan has failed. And is it a desktop or laptop? If it's a desktop, slide the side panel off and check all fans are running.Been said that you should clean out your fans....all my years I haven't seen often that a fan stopped running due to excess dust/dirt and I've seen insides of computers that were BLACK(LITERALLY BLACK with dust and fans were HEAVY with it but we're running fine for years.I mean when you blow compressed air black clouds go into the air and block out the light). Honestly,if it's Vista, could be the instability of the operating system.... But what I truly suspect is one of two things: 1:Your hardrive is failing. 2:Your power supply is failing. I would believe it's your hardrive. There's a program out there called Active SMART.You can get a 30 day trial to see if that's the case.Otherwise run some diagnostic tools for hardrives. If your hardrive is fine(assuming your using a desktop),suspect your power supply.Having a defective PSU can create lots of those problems you have.
Now, you can eliminate the possibe of virus. So I believe it due to a corrupt registry. http://www.keep-pc-clean.com/ visit that site and speed up your computer.
get hwmonitor and make sure your cpu and video card are running relatively cool. IE not over heating if they ARE , it means you need to reinstall your OS. backup first. if it is an overheating issue, clean out your fans and maybe attach a few new ones to help out
