What kind of computer should I get?

  • I don't understand much about computers, and I've had a couple, but after a few years they start going bad and freezing up. I did a system restore, and that messed it up really well. I have McAfee for the protection, but my son seems to think I have too much protection and that's why the computer is so slow. I had Fios, and that did nothing to speed things up. I do buy quite a few games, would that slow it down? My McAfee says there is no virus, etc. I even bought this registry cleaner that I saw advertised on t.v. and things kept popping up from the company I bought it from saying I needed to buy more to clean the whole computer. Do the games take up space if you're not playing them? I have so many questions, I know. I'm thinking I'll just get a new computer and start all over again. I want to make sure I get the right kind of computer that will have enough space, but I don't want to get a lot of extras I won't use. I want to make sure I'm buying the protection I need that is also reputable. I priced Dell computers and they are so expensive....I didn't realize they were that high? I also didn't know you had to buy everything separately, as the first computer I bought came w/ a monitor, etc. I know I probably sound confuse--that's because I am. Any help or suggestions you can give me will be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Preferably one that works..HaHa...As soon as my system administrator gets out of the hospital, I'll give you some better advice. have you tried asking Mike Z???? Ours is actually one that was built by piecing it together and we've had it for years. We are going to purge it and add new software, but still keep the same computer. I know the main piece is a compaq.

well if you buy alot of games...that require alot of power...then you might wanna get a computer with maybe an Intel i Core processors...but if you want a good decent computer...go to Toshiba...they have some pretty nice computers there(im using one right now..it's awesome) and for security...i highly recommend Avast and Security 360(both free) and they wont slow down your computer and they dont eat all your resources up either. and Security 360 is a firewall too...and it's designed to work _with_ your antivirus software...so...no confliction(im running them both right now). and yes games _do_ take up space when you're not using them..just like anything else on your computer.
