How do I get a reformat disk for my computer?

  • My friend gave me this computer and did not have a reformat disk. I was using easy cap and trying to record a video to get sound and all of a sudden it just lost sound on my whole computer when I restarted. I tried downloading stuff and deleting but it did not work. Where can I get a reformat disk for my computer so I can restart from the beginning. My friend kinda left some stuff on here that I just want to get rid of and he might not like me accessing his youtube and email

    insert your windows installation CD/DVD, and set up your BIOS to boot from CD-Drive first. Now when you start your computer, windows installation will begin, and it will give you an option to format your HDD. Do that and then windows will install itself in the C: drive and you are ready to go! Keep all the driver CDs that came with your computer ready, cause you'll need to install drivers and all again.

when you install an operating system you're always given to option to format first before install, just use that.

If you want to format it you have to... Go to My computer, right click on hard drive and click format. Very easy steps

mm are you confused? may i ask - as this might be 2 things are you wanting a formatted floppy disk [ A drive] ..to create a boot disk? or are you wanting to format your hard drive [C drive] and install windows again [ as a fresh install?] if its to re-install windows - you need to put your operating system disc into the cd/dvd writer and re-start .. if not then go into bios and reset the boot order to boot from cd before hard drive .. that way it looks on the cd before the hard drive .. and allows you to format then install windows..

do you have a windows cd? if ya just put it in the cd rom and restart, the rest is basic stuff.
