I have no sound on my computer.

My computer sound light is on but no sound is coming out?

  • My computer is the Windows Vista and the light where the sound box that is on the monitor is on and when I click on the speaker icon on the desktop, the sound goes up like it is playing, but the problem is that the sound isn't playing through the speakers. I think it may be a wiring problem because I was listening to music and I wanted to put in my headphones, so on the computer I pulled out the wire with the green tip that connects the speaker on the monitor to the computer and when I pulled it out and plugged in my headphones the sound wouldn't go through the headphones, so I unplugged my headphones and plugged the green tipped cord back in and the sound stopped working. I went to the control panel and tech support on my computer but they say that the device is working fine. So I don't know what to do about it, I tried to go to Microsoft support but they didn't help me because the computer's speaker is working fine but there was no option about the speaker light being on but no sound coming out. If someone could help me I would love you forever!

i believe you plugged in the jack into the wrong port. some computers have multiple sound ports that look exactly the same, most of the time they are color coded. make sure you are plugging it into the port that is green colored. good luck
