i cannot figure out how to burn home movies from hard drive to dvd, help please, i do have windows dvd maker installed, peace

And here I thought that program was idiot-proof. Pick the movies and add them to the list. Click next. Pick the menu you want from the list. Put a blank DVD into the drive and click burn. .... that's it.
