Will this fit in my dimension 9100?

What Processor Can I Upgrade My Dell Dimension 9100 to?

  • I recently got my Grandparent's old Dell Dimension 9100. I'm looking to upgrade it, but I have no idea what processor will work best. All I want it to do is work as a simple home computer. No gaming and I want it to run Windows 7 Home Premium or Windows 8. Right now I have it running Windows Vista and the Pentium 4 processor it has is running it just fine. What is my best bet? It's a great computer and I would like to salvage it.

  • Answer:

keep in mind if you are a noob that, you also may need to upgrade your ram cards. and if you go to google and type Dell Dimension 9100 specs, you should get the dell website telling which exact processors can fit your motherboard.

youhave a prnium socket t or a 775 (same thing) so you can have up to a Intel Core 2 Duo 3 GHz Processor which you can find here for $100 http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&q=socket+775+processors&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&biw=1317&bih=745&wrapid=tlif133115617611110&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=10570003713689710768&sa=X&ei=7dRXT_-GN8isiQL0rdSfCw&ved=0CIoBEPMCMAQ# If you want your computer to run faster running windows 7 will be a vast speed boost over windows vista but if you want to replace the processor, you cant get much better for $100
