How do I connect a Mac mini to my TV?

• I have just a regular MacBook and I wanted to connect it to my tv to play games and watch movies. So I went out and bought an apple mini-dvi to video adapter and an s-video cable. I plugged in the adapter, and the s-video cable from the adapter to my tv (by the way my tv is a philips magnavox), put it on the right channel and I got like a very staticy blurry kind of repeating image of my mac on the tv but you cant make anything out. i messed with the displays, resolution, color, and all that stuff and still static. I also plugged in a double sided video jack from the adapter to the tv and that didnt work. i then tried messing with the tv settings and i still cant get it. does anyone have any idea how to do this? please?

  You dont want to use the s-video or RCA cables if your wanting to watch movies or play games. They will give you a verry low quality image if you manage to get them to work. You can also get a mini dvi to VGA adapter, and i do believe your tv has a vga port, and after that just use a normal vga monitor cable. Also, mini dvi to dvi, and there are cords that go from dvi to hdmi. VGA isnt as good as quality as DVI or HDMI, but it will still be a ton better than s-video or RCA
