What is my grade if I got 512 points out of 1000 points?

The "dumbing down" of America continues. Students can't do simple maths, but they are sure taught Obama-worship. LOL. This is a 6th grade class, right?

The problem here is that you are asking someone else to do a simple math problem... 512/1000

well this would give u a 51.2% in the class. even if you get a perfect grade on ur final, your going to have a 59.2% in the class, which depending on the teacher could be raised up to a D or kept at an F. See if there's any extra credit u can do to help your grade. Good Luck!!!!

Seriously? You can't calculate a percentage? There are no words to express how dumbfounded I am by the stupidity of your question. Nonetheless, If you get 512 points: 512/1000=.512=51.2%=F and to get your D is impossible: D=60%=.600=600/1000 312+280=592 I hope for your sake that this isn't a math class. EDIT: Also, wrong category. Your grade is not a desktop computer.

You need 600 points to have 60%. 312 + 280 = 592. You can't pass. At the very end of the year and with you having earned fewer than half of the possible points you could have throughout the school year, it would be unfair to all other students, and make a mockery of grades, if your teacher elected to pass you, if s/he even has the authority to do so, which I hope s/he does not. I'm sorry, but grades are supposed to have meaning, to be an objective measure of the knowledge a student learned. I do not want a doctor or auto mechanic or plumber who knows less than half of what he should know to do surgery on me, fix anyone's car because I'm on the road with them, or fix my plumbing problem so that my house is destroyed by water. Take the class again next year, and do the work so you gain the knowledge.
