What could you recommend for a PC playing?

What are the ideal technical specifications recommended for a gaming PC ?

  • before you recommend anything know that i am a console gamer, but i am shopping for a desktop PC to replace my old dying one, so basically the primary use for the PC is for general home/entertainment purpose, but i would still like to play some PC exclusives like the witcher etc, i am not a sucker for graphics either, as long as the system runs smoothly i am fine with it, i just dont wanna break the bank for it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883103236 i got my eye on ^^^ this one, seems to have some impressive specs, good processor, big memory etc. do you guys think this would play a some PC games ? i wont be playing games like crysis ofcourse i prefer console for that since i am use to the controller already, PC is mainly for RPG's. any ideas ? thx.

im not a huge fan of tri core processors, but it will do the job. But to be honest the graphics card is for lack of better words, crap. you can play some games on there but unless they are a few years old they wont run well. i had a lappy with a 9300 nvidia and the best i could run was age of empires 3 on it. i suggest shopping around a bit more. even if you arent intending on playin any real demanding games. the power supply for that also is quite low, so no upgrading anything without taking out the PS for a more powerful one, and the case will limit how much you can do with it later on. even if you dont plan on making any adjustments atm its always best to think ahead. later on you might want a better graphics card but dont want to buy another computer, but that case will limit how much space you have and what can fit in it. i suggest this to everyone i know whom is thinking about getting a new pc, make your own! for the same amount of money you can make a much more desirable computer customized for your preferences, and its not as hard as most people think =)

If you want to get the cheapest computer, you should build one yourself. It's really fun, easy, and it'll educate you on what you're using and allow you to upgrade it. I built my own and it works like a charm and that was my first time doing so. Just make sure that your computer has a good: Video card (I would recommend the latest in the GeForce Nvidia cards OR the really early GTS video cards. You REALLY don't need much more than that.) RAM (AT LEAST 3GB RAM, maybe even 4GB.) Enough memory (To stay on the safe side I went with 1TB, which is 1000GB, but it's really more than enough. The average gamer will only need about 600GB, maybe even less. If you want to use if for movies, music, etc. go for the 1TB) For RPGs I recommend Fallout 3, all the Elder Scrolls, World of Warcraft (which has a monthly cost of 15 dollars, but is massively multiplayer as well, etc). You should also check out srtest.com, which let's you see what your computer can and can't run according to specs. My suggestion for obtaining the games is torrents, but you didn't hear it from me :P. It's a bit risky, but with a bit of caution you should be good. To do this download uTorrent and then head on over to thepiratebay.org.

I wouldn't recommend that system for any type of gaming. It has integrated graphics which pretty much sucks for gaming....2D is ok, 3D forget it. It's a slim tower system which means that if you decided to upgrade the graphics and install an actual graphics 'card' you can only use a low profile card. That's not so bad, what is bad is that it most likely uses a TFX power supply, not your common variety, with upgrades limited to 300W, meaning that you could only use a low power, low profile graphics card in it. And with the stock 220W power supply, you'll need to use a very low power, low profile graphics card. Maybe something like the HD 5450 which only draws about 20W. http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=585&card2=625 http://www.upgraderguides.com/hwdb.php?type=1&page=details&dev=479&dev2=0 BTW, you can use an xbox 360 controller with Crysis for Windows.

That computer is graphicaly relatively weak. Also the powersupply is to weak to support a high end graphical card. It might be good enough to play not to demanding games though. For some real gaming power u need a good dedicated graphical card, that often needs a 500 watt or heavier powersupply, and a good computercase with good coolingoptions. Maybe buying a barebone-kit would be a good way to easily build a not to expensive gaming-computer. Especialy if u already have a harddisk somewhere, and maybe even windows xp. For instance: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6401384&CatId=333 add a mid-range graphical card, for instance: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5637429&CatId=2306 That would give u a quite capable gaming comp (i think) for 500 dollar (350 for the kit, 150 for the video-card) but exclusive: - operating system - harddisk/dvd - cpu-cooler (the cpu probably has a standard cooler with it, but i would prefer a 3rd-party cooler for optimal cooling) - keyboard/mouse/monitor

that computer is appauiling for gaming. you must realise you need 4 gigs of ram with a 64 bit (or 3 gigs with 32 bit) and good dual core processor that is it. however games need good graphics cards!. also that case. if your getting a gaming pc you need to get a midi tower or full tower NOT a slimline. this is the kind of thing you want to be looking at: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229196 a slightly more budget one would be this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227261

Personally, I hate slimline PCs for any sort of gaming because they cannot be upgraded much. The skinny chassis only accepts half-height graphics cards and the power supplies are proprietary, so you usually can't replace them with a standard off-the-shelf model. However, for the type of gaming you've described it would be fine (with a grahics card upgrade), and the price is amazing. You'd be limited to $50ish graphics cards because of your power supply. A low-profile Radeon 4650 or GeForce GT220 would do nicely: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102829 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814134089 With either of those installed, you could play RPGs smoothly. http://www.techspot.com/review/244-ati-radeon-hd-5450/page7.html However, you can do better for less cash. Best Buy currently has these units: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Compaq+-+Presario+Desktop+with+AMD+Athlon%26%23153%3B+II+Dual-Core+Processor/9693859.p?id=1218152062935&skuId=9693859 Add one of these, and you'd be in great shape! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131343 With a regular tower you can easily upgrade things. And since gaming performance is roughly 70% GPU and 30% CPU, it would perform better than the Acer for most games. However if you're playing Supreme Commander (a notoriously CPU-intensive RPG) the first system is better.

Well,a good decent gaming machine can be like this.build it and you will have the best parts for your money. Amd phenom II x2 555 black edition CPU. Asus M4A785TDV-EVO Motherboard. 4 GB DDR3 RAM. HD 4850 512 MB Graphics card. a good 500 watts of power supply. 500 gb or 1 tb hard disk. win7 home premium 64 bit OS. It is good, cheap and still offer you the upgrade options in future.it will run all the latest games fine.

ITS CALLED XBOX 360 OR PS3 WHO PLAYS ON COMPUTERS ANYMORE UNLESS YOUR A WOW NERD
