Where should the sound be coming from? The TV or computer? And is there sound if you don't connect them? Make sure you're connecting whatever sound output to the right source. EDIT: Assuming your speakers are the PC kind, plug in the speaker wire into your sound card (there'll be 3 holes - usually red, green and blue. plug it into green/with the headphone icon) If they're the 'home theatre' kind of speakers, you'll have to plug in the speaker wire into the TV card (there shouldn't be too many holes left to choose from)

if you just used either a vga to vga cable you'll get no sound if you used a s-video cables you'll get no sound, the only way is via hdmi cable, and your laptop needs to have hdmi socket, u cant use a vga to hdmi converter. the only way to get sound from your tv is to connect a stereo to stereo cable.

Need to know what kind of cabling that you used to connect to the tv and how it is all set up. (HDMI, A/V cables. etc) What ports are on your video card. What inputs are on your television? What is a basic connection? Output does not match input. There has to be a conversion somewhere. Video only outputs the video. What connection are you using to output the audio? Are you trying to get the sound through you computer or through the television. Are you using a particular software to connect. HDMI would be the only way to get audio to your Television. Or through an A/V setup which would require a conversion cable. There is no such thing as a BASIC CONNECTION. Please elaborate.

are you plugging the cord from the headphone outlet into the tv's headphone outlet?

Audio... Hmm.. A/V Cables? Lmao. Maybe... Hmm..

Maybe you should jack the computer up with the speakers too if theyre plugged into the TV?

How are you connecting to your television? Audio doesn't magically work. Video cables only connect the video. WHAT IS A BASIC CONNECTION????? Please describe your set up. We are not mind readers. If "sound from either would work", then you have answered your own question. Good Job!

depends on your connections :p plz be more speciific what cabels you used and what ports are available
