Why does my computer turn off for a few seconds?

My computer is turning itself off a few seconds after i turn it on, and nothing comes onto the screen.?

  • heres the story: my house electricity went off so i had to flick the main switch to get it back on. unfortunately my computer was turned on at the time. when i got back to the PC, i turned it on, but nothing came up on the screen and it said no signal. a few seconds later it turns itself off, then back on, then off again and stays off. im wondering if it is something to do with the graphics card. here is the specs of my PC: 2.2GHz pentium dual-core 8600GT Xpert vision 2GB corsair RAM 160GB HDD hitachi deskstar any help would be brilliant, thanks for your time :)

Hi, you could have done some major damage to your PC with that power surge I suggest getting a power protector anti-surge unit I can get them for you for less then $100.00 if you want just have to check the country for supply as I live in OZ and may not be able to get the same for the USA as different power fittings and volts, check out www.newegg.com
