Why can't my computer can't detect my external hard drive?

My computer cant upload/find/detect my Sandisk CompactFlash memory card?

  • I need help on trying to upload it on my computer, my computer already comes with a slot for the memory stick, but when i put it in, it does nothing, it has a green light showing its in, but it does nothing. I have this usb that fits that connects the camera to the computer, i tried it, but it said something about a Canon device driver.. and i tried installing it, i dont have a disk, and uh, it couldnt download the device driver, so it failed.. I tried looking in the computer section, theres nothing there that shows anything about a removeable disk, nd yeah anything, I clicked E: on my computer, but all it did was open my disk drive.. So can anyone help me to try and get my pictures onto my computer?

Download the camera driver from http://www.canon.co.uk/Support/consumer_products/index.aspx If you are running Windows 2000/NT/XP or Vista then you shouldn't need any driver for the flash drive. Try a socket on the rear of the computer, front sockets often give problems

What size is the memory card? It may be due to the fact that your card reader does not support your Sandisk CompactFlash card. I've had issues with my built in card reader not supporting anything higher than a certain amount of storage. You could try downloading the Canon device driver from the canon website if the disc does not work. That way you could possibly still access whatever it is that you have on the card.
